Enrico Puglisi's Fly Tying Materials : visit
I’ve experimented with a lot of natural and synthetic materials for creating the shad-imitating flies I use. A fly rarely looks in the water as it does in the maker’s vise. The resistance the materials undergo when traveling through the water have a tendency to reduce the fly’s profile. What looks like a sway-bellied shad in the vice can take on an elongated minnow-like appearance in the water. That can spell bad news. EP (Enrico Puglisi) Fibers overcome this problem. These fibers have just the right balance of suppleness and stiffness. They’re stiff enough to hold the same shape in the water as in the vise; yet they’re supple enough to have a living, breathing property when stripped and then paused. It’s a great product and it has produced a great many fish for me. Mr. Puglisi is a very genuine fellow.
Gamakatsu Hooks : visit
I’ve experimented with a lot of hooks for the threadfin shad patterns I use for fly fishing for white bass year 'round. For me, the SC15 can't be beat. I use it in sizes 6 through 1. Every hook is “sticky sharp” out of the package so there is no hand filing required until after a few fish have been hooked. The tin plating is silver, which is a natural color for shad, so the hook doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb as bronze or black hooks would. That plating also prevents rusting on flies that are used and then placed back into my fly box. The wire size is just right for fly gear. It’s thin enough to penetrate with little rod pressure applied, yet, it's thick enough not to flex under normal circumstances. Gamakatsu puts out a great product and those products have produced a great many fish for me. They don't sponsor me - I'm just letting you know their product is high caliber.
